Tunnel Waterproofing
Tunnels can vary in size from small service ducts to water pipelines to the large-bore tunnels used for road and rail. Waterproofing methods will vary depending on factors such as the construction method used to build the tunnel, the type of ground through which the tunnel is built, and the level of dryness required inside the tunnel. The Drybase range of cementitious waterproofing products and the Oldroyd range of cavity drainage membranes both have tunnel waterproofing applications. Solutions are also available for the refurbishment of existing tunnels.
Drybase products with tunnel and pipeline waterproofing applications include:
The Oldroyd Gtx range are cavity drainage membranes with a welded geotextile mesh. They have applications as a drainage layer in cut and cover tunnel construction. Oldroyd Xv 20 (high flow capacity cavity drainage membrane) also has applications in tunnel waterproofing and drainage.
The Oldroyd Gtx range consists of cavity drainage membranes with a geotextile mesh welded to one side (often referred to as ‘geocomposite membranes’ or ‘geocomposites’). The geotextile mesh filters out the ‘fines’ in the groundwater, preventing them from causing blockages in other areas of the drainage system, making Oldroyd Xv 20 ideal for basement waterproofing and drainage applications

It is mixed with water and applied by trowel, brush or spray onto surfaces such as concrete, masonry and render. Once cured, the resultant surface is hydrophobic and is ideal for surfaces that are subject to moisture ingress. Typical areas of application…

The active crystalline composition creates a penetrating waterproofing solution for concrete walls, floors and structures. The high coverage-per-kilogram of Drybase Crystalline Active Tanking Slurry makes it an ideal choice for tanking larger concrete structures.

Moisture ingress caused by climatic influences, groundwater or condensation can lead to cracks and frost damage, as well as algae, fungus and moss growth. Over the years, salt and lime efflorescence can occur and severely disfigure masonry. In addition penetrating rain can introduce dirt into masonry and result…

The government guidance on damp and mould brought another form of dampness to light - one that is well-known but not often thought about in its own category. This new term for dampness caused by a leak or environmental flooding is 'traumatic…
