Dryrod® Damp-Proofing Rods can be inserted internally or externally in a solid wall; When treating from the outside, a row of holes should be drilled into the mortar course 120mm apart and approximately 150mm above the ground. When treating from the inside, the holes should typically be drilled into the lowest accessible mortar course. However, this depends on the height of the exterior ground level.

When inserting the Dryrod Damp-Proofing Rods internally in a property with a timber suspended floor, you should look to use the lowest accessible mortar course below the timbers. For an external application, insert at least 150 mm above external ground level, but below joist level and below wallplates on sleeper walls.

Where a suspended timber floor is supported on joists and/or a wall plate bearing on, or embedded in, the wall, there is a possibility of decay, particularly where concealed timbers are in contact with the damp wall. The condition of these timbers should be ascertained and remedial action taken if necessary.

When using Dryrods in a cavity wall, you would need to treat both walls individually and not breach the cavity.

When treating from the outside, a row of holes should be drilled into the mortar course 120 mm apart and approximately 150 mm above the ground.
When treating from the inside, the holes should typically be drilled into the lowest accessible mortar course.

You can use Dryrods in Stone built houses as long as there is a consistent mortar course to insert the rods into.

If the wall is thicker than the standard 9" then consideration could be given to using the Dryzone DPC Cream instead.

Internally the chemical DPC should be created in the lowest accessible mortar course above a solid floor, or in the lowest accessible mortar course below the timbers supporting a suspended timber floor - both of which are typically lower than the height that the DPC would be created at in relation to the external ground level.
If the chemical DPC is created from the outside of the wall through to the inside of the wall, or vice versa, it is highly likely that the chemical DPC will be created at an incorrect height which may in turn compromise it's performance.
The solution to this challenge may involve the creation of two separate DPCs at appropriate heights in a solid wall, or that a solution might be identified which involves a level of compromise.
