Environmentally-friendly protection against mould and moisture
Protect your beloved outdoor furniture, buildings and fencing from the harsh effects of rain with Roxil Wood Protection Liquid. Over time, moisture from the elements causes wood to warp, crack and eventually rot. Roxil Wood Protection Liquid has been created to waterproof absorbent woods such as softwood timber and weathered hardwoods. It can also reduce biological growth like mould and algae.
Safeguard Europe has formulated a colourless and non-biocidal water-based silicone emulsion that retains the original look and appeal of natural wood while protecting it from moisture absorption. Roxil Wood Protection Liquid is a less visible alternative to oils, varnishes and epoxies.
Safeguard Europe’s Research and Development Team have weather-tested Roxil Wood Protection Liquid on a wide variety of woods, including but not limited to Oak, Pine, Douglas Fir and Red Cedar.
Let the natural qualities of wood shine through with Roxil.
Resists Warping
When rain settles unevenly on the more exposed parts of wooden structures, the wetter parts take longer to dry and the drier parts shrink. This is what causes wood to warp out of shape and is especially unwelcome in places where uniformity is key such as decking, benches and shed or office roofs.
By waterproofing an outdoor wooden structure with Roxil Wood Protection Liquid, uneven moisture absorption will be reduced to resist warping.
Total Long-Lasting Protection
Roxil Wood Protection Liquid provides water protection on softwood timber following just 2 coats of application. It has been rigorously tested with 2000 hours of artificial weathering, twice as much as the BBA standard for 10 years of real world weathering.
Freshly clean with Roxil Wood and Patio Cleaner for the best results. Apply by brushing or spraying to ensure the strength, safety and aesthetic appeal of your valuable garden structures for the next decade with Roxil Wood Protection Liquid.
Reduce Mould Growth and Retain Natural Look
Pooling rain is the breeding ground for biological growth like surface mould and algae on outdoor timber. Roxil Wood Protection Liquid waterproofs those vulnerable areas and reduces the potential for mould and algae growth. Keep your garden furniture dry and clear of undesirable biological growth with Roxil Wood Protection Liquid. When used in conjunction with Roxil 100 Wood and Patio Cleaner, mouldy garden wood can be cleansed, rejuvenated and protected.
Easy and Simple Application
Roxil Wood Protection Liquid comes ready to use in a convenient 5L canister and is applied with a standard brush or sprayer, making application fuss-free. A litre covers 5 – 10m² for 2 coats. Full water repellency will develop 1 month after application.
Maintain and protect the natural beauty of your garden structures with Roxil Wood Protection Liquid.
Before application, brush the surface to remove any loose material. Some light sanding may be necessary to remove any rough areas or edges.

Surrounding areas such as gravel boards, slab or stone patios, plants, paint etc., should be well protected from splashes and over-spray. Any splashes should be cleaned away immediately with warm soapy water.
3
Step 3
For best results, the wood surface should be cleansed with Roxil 100 Wood & Patio Cleaner prior to the application of Roxil Liquid. Allow the wood to dry after cleaning.
4
Step 4
Shake well then fill the 5-litre pressure sprayer with Roxil Liquid, replace the plunger, tighten securely and pressurise.
5
Step 5
Spray the first coat, starting at the top and spraying from side-to-side. Move downward, spraying through the runoff. Roxil Liquid can also be applied by brush.
6
Step 6
The second coat should be applied whilst the first coat is still wet – typically within 30 minutes depending on the temperature.

Step 7
After 24 – 48 hours the wood returns to its original appearance and is resistant to the harmful effects of water ingress.

You can look to overcoat Roxil Wood Protection Liquid with a water based paint. If you are going to apply a paint then this must be coated 3-10 days after the application of Roxil so the paint can adhere correctly.

We make small wooden boxes which we want to waterproof before putting them outside. We would like to 'dip' treat the boxes by immersion rather than using a brush as it's quicker. Is this product suitable for this method of application ?
Mollie Brown at Safeguard
Good afternoon,
Thank you for your enquiry.
Fully immersing timber into the Wood Protection Liquid is an effective way to coat the item and the product is suitable for this application.
If you have any further enquires about the product and what you wish to use it for then please feel free to contact us directly on 01403 201204.

Can it be applied over a new painted summerhouse?
Fiona Forsyth
Could you apply the Roxil and then paint it afterwards as we don’t want the natural wood colour.
Jack Harding at Safeguard
Good Morning Fiona
Thank you for your question.
Unfortunately you would not be able to apply Roxil Wood Protection Liquid over a painted surface. The paint will prevent the Roxil from absorbing into the timber. You can apply the Roxil Wood Protection then paint over this, if using a water based paint this must be done 3-10 days after the application of the Roxil.
If you have any further questions please get in touch with us directly on 01403 210204 or email at [email protected].

Ann Fowler
Can it be used on pressure treated wood
Mollie Brown at Safeguard
Hi Ann,
Thank you for the enquiry.
You can apply Roxil Wood Protection Liquid to pressure treated wood, however we would advise you to carry out a test area first as any previous treatments can potentially limit how well new products can penetrate into the timber.
Martin Ritchie
Can I apply the Roxil charcoal wood preserver first, let it dry then put this wood protection liquid on after?
Jack Harding at Safeguard
Hi Martin
Thank you for the enquiry.
For best results we advise applying the Roxil Coloured Wood Preserver first. After applying the Coloured Wood Preserver wait 30 – 60 minutes or until touch dry before applying Roxil Wood Protection Liquid. The treated wood should be overcoated with the Roxil Wood Protection Liquid within 24 hours.
I hope this helps, if you have any further queries please feel free to get in touch on 01403 210204.

Will this product waterproof 15mm ply sheets, used in the marquee industry?
Mollie Brown at Safeguard
Hi James,
Thank you for the enquiry. We do not suggest Roxil Wood Protection Liquid for Plywood as the adhesive used in these types of wood will prevent the product from being able to penetrate deep enough into the timber.
Safeguard Europe
Can I apply Roxil Wood Protection Liquid to painted wood?
