As Raincheck ECO Water Seal is a water repellent as opposed to a waterproofer, we cannot recommend that this product is used for this type of application.

Can it be applied below external dampcourse

Raincheck® ECO Water Seal should not be applied to a wall below the line of a physical or chemical DPC. These areas often contain high concentrations of salts that can become trapped when a product with high vapour permeability allows moisture to evaporate from the wall. This process is called crypto-efflorescence and can lead to spalled brickwork.
If a finish is required below the DPC line and the existing render or surface coating has been removed, Drybase® TS-PLUS Tanking Slurry can be applied. The dense nature of the slurry reduces the risk of crypto-efflorescence and prevents DPC bridging.

Can this product be used over an existing masonry paint ?

Raincheck ECO Water Seal should not be applied over sealed or painted surfaces. This is because the product needs to be able to penetrate the substrate.

In answer to your question, yes you can paint over Raincheck ECO Water Seal with a Masonry Paint, however this must be done 3-10 days after the application of the water seal. After this time the water repellent effect of Raincheck Eco would prevent the paint from adhering correctly.

Can this be used on an interior old wall which has been left exposed in a bathroom as a feature!?

How often should you reapply the water seal on sandstone?

As this product is a surface coating only, it would typically need to be reapplied every 1-2 years.
We would advise you to keep an eye on the surface beading and use this as an indication of when the product would need to be reapplied.
