The problem of rising damp can now be dealt with even more easily, cleanly and quickly using the Dryrod Damp-Proofing Rods treatment from Safeguard – the UK’s leading specialist in damp-proofing, waterproofing, and masonry repair solutions. The BBA-approved damp-proofing rods are the next step in rising damp technology.
The patented 12 mm diameter fibre rods carry a powerful water-repellent material. They are simply inserted into holes drilled at regular 120 mm intervals along a horizontal mortar course. Once inserted, the rods diffuse their water-repellent material along the mortar course, curing to form an effective barrier to rising damp. Each rod is the correct length to treat 120 mm linear of a standard 9 inch thick brick wall but can be cut or combined to suit walls of varying thicknesses.
The rods were developed after three years of intensive laboratory and field testing. They are effective in walls that are highly saturated, very porous and either highly alkaline – such as in new mortar – or with low alkalinity (old mortar). And they can also be installed in warm or cold walls – even when the wall is freezing. Because each rod contains the exact amount of active ingredient required to treat its designated length of wall, the user doesn’t need to worry about inaccurate dosing due to air pockets, cavities and fissures in the wall. Once the rod has been inserted into the mortar course, the correct amount of waterproofing material will be distributed.
Dryrod Damp-Proofing Rods are available in packs of 10 rods or boxes of 50 rods, installation tools are also available. Please call us on 01403 210204 or submit an enquiry for information on prices and availability. Visit the Dryrod page for more details.
