SoluGuard Woodworm Treatment (HSE No. 10137)
SoluGuard Woodworm Treatment is a high-strength treatment for preventing and terminating woodworm infestations.
The high-strength formula contains 0.25% permethrin as its active ingredient, more than double the strength of many competing products. This has been selected because it has proven effectiveness against all lifecycle stages of common woodworm species (eggs, larvae, and adult beetles).
When applied at the recommended rate SoluGuard Woodworm Treatment’s high-strength allows it to to be classified under the Biocidal Products Regulation as a “curative” treatment for Common Furniture Beetle and House Longhorn Beetle rather than just a “preventative” treatment.

Larval Stages
Kills & Prevents Infestations at All Lifecycle Stages
Woodworm have a cyclical lifecycle. The adult beetle lays eggs, these eggs hatch into larvae, the larvae eat the wood until they become a pupa, the pupa hatches and an adult beetle emerges from the wood to mate before the cycle begins again. SoluGuard Woodworm Treatment can effectively target each of these lifecycle stages.
The max strength formulation of SoluGuard Woodworm Treatment has been tested to European Harmonised Standards and has been determined to be suitable for use in treating both currently active infestations of live woodworm and preventing future infestations.
SoluGuard Woodworm Treatment Application
SoluGuard Woodworm Treatment can be applied by brush or low-pressure spray.
The application rate will vary depending on the species of wood-boring insect being targeted and whether a preventative or curative treatment is required.
For preventative treatment of woodworm (i.e. preventing woodworm from attacking unaffected timbers) SoluGuard Woodworm Treatment is applied at a rate of 200 ml/m2.
For curative treatment (i.e. treating timber that has already been attacked by woodworm), SoluGuard Woodworm Treatment is applied at a rate of 300 ml/m2 – this will typically require more than one coat depending on the absorbency of the timber. Please note that, except for mild infestations of common furniture beetle (anobium punctatum), curative treatment of timber affected by woodworm should be carried out by a professional contractor. For details of contractors in your area, please contact our technical department on 01403 210204 or submit an enquiry.
Note: SoluGuard Woodworm Treatment can also be applied by brush.
