BS EN 998-1:2010 Renovation Plaster |
Dryzone Renovation Plasters are a range of breathable modern plasters that are designed to stop salt migration and aid drying on damp walls. All three variants in the plaster range have been scientifically developed and tested to provide excellent resistance to hygroscopic salts whilst providing a highly breathable surface. They have been shown to out-perform both competing renovation plasters and sand/cement renders.
The plasters are most commonly used as part of the Dryzone System for replastering after Dryrod Damp-Proofing Rods have been used to create a remedial DPC against rising damp. They are also ideal for use in other situations where residual damp will be present, such as after treatment for penetrating damp or as part of a flood repair project.
For projects that need to start redecoration as soon as possible, Dryzone Express Replastering System should be considered. This is a hybrid plasterboard system that can treat walls affected by rising damp and prepare them for redecoration in under 24 hours.
Control Dampness & Salt Migration
Standard gypsum plasters soak up residual moisture left in the wall. Any salts in the wall migrate to the surface and break down the plaster. This will not only spoil the decorating surface but can also result in the structure of the plaster being permanently weakened.
The porous structure of Dryzone Renovation Plasters allows walls to breathe and dry down naturally without allowing salt and moisture to migrate to the surface or damage the plaster’s structural integrity.
Application
These instructions are an overview of the application process. Full application instructions for all Dryzone Renovation Plaster variants can be found in the downloads tab.
The Range
Dryzone Damp-Resistant Plaster
Dryzone Damp-Resistant Plaster is our original breathable pre-blended plaster developed to control dampness and salt migration in walls. This highly effective renovation plaster has a porous structure which controls salt migration by allowing salts to form behind the decorating surface. The highly breathable nature of the plaster also ensures for a quick drying time after rising damp & penetrating damp treatments.
Dryzone Hi-Lime Renovation Plaster
Dryzone Hi-Lime Renovation Plaster is a plaster blend containing natural hydraulic lime and calcite. It is ideal for use in traditional and heritage buildings. This makes it a highly breathable and environmentally friendly alternative to hard and non-breathable cement renders. The enhanced lime content makes for exceptional plasticity, providing a pleasurable application experience for plasterers whilst still protecting against salt migration.
Dryzone Damp-Resistant Plaster Fast-Set Formula
Dryzone Damp-Resistant Plaster Fast-Set Formula is a breathable pre-blended plaster based on natural cement and special additives to control dampness and salt migration whilst providing a quick-setting surface. It has been specially developed to set faster than competing renovation plasters whilst still providing exceptional salt-resistance and breathability. This makes it ideal for smaller areas, dubbing out uneven walls or time-sensitive projects.
Finishing the Job
Dryzone Hi-Lime Finishing Plaster
Dryzone Hi-Lime Finishing Plaster is a high-quality breathable plaster that is designed to be applied as a skim coat to walls that have been replastered using Dryzone System renovation plasters. It leaves a smooth white finish that provides the ideal decorating surface after damp-proofing treatments. The surface has biocidal properties and does not degrade after wetting, making it ideal for use as part of a flood-resilience system.
